Widgets

Why your website has no widgets, and what to use instead.

Ask AI

You will rarely need this page.

A widget area is a named box of content, such as a short list of recent posts or a few lines of text, that a website shows in a side column or a footer.

Nothing on your website shows a widget area. The Widgets screen is not in your menu, and your footer has no place for one. If you fill in a widget area, no visitor ever sees it.

What to use instead

  • For your footer, use the Footer screen. It has pieces for text, links, buttons, your hours and more.
  • For the side column on a blog post or project, use the Article Sidebar screen. It can show recent posts, your categories and tags, a short text block and more.
  • For a page, open the page itself and add a block. Pages covers that.
