Bylines

The Bylines panel on your edit screens, and why the Author box is the one that counts.

Ask AI

You will rarely need this page.

A byline is a “written by” credit. Your edit screens have two places that look like they set one. Only one of them shows on your website.

WhereWhat it doesDoes the public see it?
Author, a box in the form of a blog post or projectCredits one person from your team.Yes. A name under the title, and an About the author box.
Bylines, a part of the Settings panel on every edit screenHolds credits your website never reads.No. Nothing changes.

So to credit someone, use Author. Posts shows how. Your team members come from the Team page.

The Bylines panel

Open any page or service and look down the Settings panel on the right. There is a Bylines part there. It may show a name marked Automatic, From the post owner, with an Add byline button under it.

Ignore it. Adding a byline here, or taking one off, changes nothing a visitor sees. Leaving it as it is, is correct.

Ownership, just above it, is the same story. It says which person in your team the entry belongs to inside the panel. No visitor ever sees it.

The Bylines screen

The screen that lists bylines is not in your menu. Your website does not use it, so there is no reason to go looking for it.

Contact support

Contact us if you want a name and photo credited somewhere other than a blog post or a project, such as on a service. That is a change to how your site is built, not something this panel can do.

Email support@lookoutridgeit.com. Getting support says what to put in the message.
